Two sleeping ducks

By xwang
When I was crossing the bridge of Canon hall, it started to rain.It was dark, I was amazed to see the pair of ducks were sleeping in the water.( I don't know what the plants are,I wonder if they are waterlilies) I know, this is not for tidy minded people, but for some reason,I liked the view, and snapped it.I didn't do anything on the photo apart from adjusted shadow/midtone/highlingt to brighten it up a bit, under the advice of a friend and a little sharpening.Settings:S640;F5.6;ISO200;Focal length18mmm;AV-priority

Very sharp capture, xiaoli. Maybe concentrating only on one of the ducks and its reflection would be more interesting, I guess.

Thank you very much John.
What I didn't mention was that I forgot setting againSmile, this time was the focus point, it had been on the right.Accidently it was on the right duck.I wonder how I should set the focus in this kind of situation.

A good Capture Xiaoli. I know you did'nt ask for critique, but I would have been tempted to crop a little bringing the ducks out of the camoflage and more to the for-front. Super refelections, Well done

Thank you very much Carol, critique is always welcome on each photo I put on.
I have re-processed it again from RAW, adjusted a bit to make it slightly more "3D" Smile
Thank you all.

Hi, Xiaoli. When I first saw this, I hardly noticed the ducks. I am one of those tidy-minded people....sorry. Since you focused on the duck on the right, and it is hard to make out detail in the one on the left, I would suggest a crop which only included the one on the right. I have put a modification on your latest upload of the Hall. I cropped to place the one duck near the bottom of the frame and cloned out a few bits around it so that it stood a little more proud of the lilypads. The only other thing I did was a slight levels adjustment and selective sharpening of the duck.

Thank you very much Pamela. As I said I had re-pressed the photo, I'll use the reprocessed version to follow your MOD.Please tell me the new colour is better or worseSmile, maybe it's too dark again.
BTW, could you have a look Chromatic aberration on PSP sometime somehow, please? It should be a straight forward correction but I couldn't do it.I can't tell the difference between "before"&"after".When I clicked "show difference", it's all black...Thank you very much again.

Funny image, great title, and very entertaining capture.
It would make a great jigsaw puzzle. Smile
