Making Hay

By YorkshireSam
Allendale is a small market town just south of Hexham, separated from the busy Tyne Valley by steep hills the valley slumbers on top of many years of history. From the Romans through to the Border Reivers and the coming of the lead mines, this is an ancient land and yet there are still reminders of the past here. One such reminder is the remarkable John Dodds who still farms his land using Clydesdales. A remarkable man indeed having worked continuously with horses from age 15 to the present day, an incredible 72 years in total and still very capable. It was a real pleasure to have the chance to share some time with him.
