I think its a lovely shot Ian. I love how those two small petals are folded over the centre, - looks like the flower is a little shy!

Its underexposed, - that -1/2, dont know why it was used as it not needed. Apert from that, sharpness can be increased a bit, but with the wide aperture, not a whole lot can be sharpened. Smaller aperture with higher ISO might have provided more apparent sharpness.

Still a very nice image.

A lovely subject. Captivating colour and there is nice texture to see in the petals. Like Willie I find the little petals interesting contrast to the central area.

It looks sharp on my monitor although it falls off ever so slightly toward the edges. A slightly smaller aperture would have helped but I would not have gone too far. Possibly f8 so the background remained sufficiently out of focus.

The only thing really I don't like is the cropped off single petal at the top of the frame. I would like to see the whole flower head. I find this type of crop causes the eye to wander up and out of the frame.

Something to consider perhaps.

Otherwise a very appealing image.

To answer your second question first, yes. In fact in many ways all images are worth putting up for critique, but that's another debate!

If you're in any doubt, then the answer is definitely yes as you think there is something that can be improved but you're not sure what. A second pair of eyes is always worth it.
And your continued use of and interaction with the Critique Gallery suggests you are happy with what you get out of it.

I can see why you chose a wide aperture as it's given the background a lovely soft look. Even at this size I can see the overlapping petals being sharper than the yellow and blue centre parts. A possible solution is to take two shots, one like this and one at say f/11 and blend the two together so there's greater sharpness around the centre. It's a crude version of focus stacking but can work and I have done somethinf similar on the odd occasion.
I wouldn't worry about some of the extreme petal edges not being as sharp, they aren't the focal point that the eye goes to.
