Which & Because

Which is V2

Because v1 is a dark and moody image and as a result I think the crane has to much shadow in and loses a little details. The frame does distract a bit too and the shadow is almost out of the frame.

V2 is a different image and has a really appealing contrast to it. The clouds are lighter but still retaining the contrast and this enhance the figure of the crane. The alternative composition includes the bridge to the right and enhance the image for me.

Good image and well presented

Both great shots. V2 for me - but just by a whisker.

Both have lovely tonality over the water. I prefer the dark foreboding v1 where the water is even better but prefer the composition of v2.

My preference is for V2 - very pleasing composition, the crane less central & pointing towards the bridge which adds to interest. V1 is dramatic but V2 for me.

Hello Ian,

V2 for me. i like both of them, but v2 has the edge. You have taken V1 just that bit too far and it is over dark. It is shots like this that suite mono, especially harsh mono. There seems to be a fad for mono in many cases where it is not the best choice.

Works here. Not keen on that frame and text on V1. A bit distracting.

Nice old fashioned printing feel about this one, yes it is a bit on the dark side, and not too sure about the grain in the sky, but still like it anyway.
