Humour, yes and no. They are getting some funny reactions from the passers by.
The guy with the chicken's trying to look serious but he is going to smile soon.
Colour works better I think.

I'm going to say mono works better, but I'm a mono-addict, so I would say that. Great shot with plenty going on. Nice work!

Your question made me laugh, Ian... As soon as I started looking at the picture, it was clear that it wasn't working for the ladies walking past these two blokes. I seem to recognise the deadpan duck man from a previous post.

As a humorous picture, I think it would work better focussing more or less exclusively on the two performers. I think I can see what you were doing - putting them in the context of a crowd passing them by. But while the shot shows the context really well, the humour gets lost. I also feel that the deadpan humour needs to be complimented by equally deadpan framing, and upright verticals. I'll upload a mod.

As reportage, it works really well, including the slight tilt. And the three ladies who seem utterly unamused (one of them, perhaps, giving you a very meaningful look!) are perfect.

The mono is very contrasty with heavy blocked up shadows, otherwise would work quite well. The colour has a better tonal range but there is just too much going on. Not sure about humour really. Dependson what makes you smile. I would have come in much closer on the blokes.
