Brighton Beach

By younchin
This is my first attempt at a morning shot. Taken at sunrise on the same day as the previous postings at Brighton Beach, southeast of Sydney. The ISO in my camera was accidentally left at "Auto", which led to a very fast setting and resulted in a grainy texture but I like the effect.

For ISO 800 that's not flippin' bad! With the tripod I'd always go ISO 100 and adjust F-stop to suit the shutter speed and effect you're after. You could try this down to F22 which should give a much longer shutter speed and smoothing effect on the water. (sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs!).

Be tempted to lose the UV filter as well - unecesary addition glass when you've got grads on there as well.

Nice one. Nik

Dangerous thing auto ISO ... the Nikon developers even saw fit to leave it working when in manual mode.
