After The Storm

By ZenTony
The night before there had been quite a storm. Five minutes before this was taken it was still raining hence the beach being so wet. The rain stopped, the sea had become quite calm and the sun just broke through the angry clouds and produced this magical light reflected on the sands. I know I should probably have cropped some of the beach but I would have lost some of the reflection ......so I didn't !

Very nice
I think the B&W possibly works better

No crop! The foreground is full of interest, despite having no objects there.
This is like a horizontal triptych - the beach, the sea, the sky.

Lovely atmospheric photo Tony. I'd have cropped the bright upper part of the sky, bringing the horizon to the famous third and concentrating on the fantastic light and reflections on the beach. And tried to repair the flare.. I wish I'd been there to take it!

I've uploaded a mod for the colour version, cropped as above, slight tweak to curves and remved flare and dust spots.
Hope you like it.
The b&w version - similar crop and maybe more contrast in the mid tones?

Hi James. Thank you for your comments and suggestions. All these things are personal of course but I do get twitchy when the "middle third" becomes a priority..............and then of course I get into a real hissy fit about "negative space"...lol. However James, as always I value your comments and suggestions which are always merited.
All the best
Tony
