"In The Line of Duty" Award Please

By ZenTony
So unlike lots of idiot photographers who stand too close to impressive waves like these I had done my calculations. Taking into consideration momentum, velocity, wind speed plus a safety factor of 1.5; I stood at the optimum safe distance !
However this beast pictured here, hit the beach and then, defying all know hydraulic data leap up to 7 or so metres above lower beach level and took me off my feet. Heroically, and as a true professional, I kept my finger on the trigger.............as can be seen in V2 and V3.
So, as the title suggests; I believe that there must some sort of "In the Line of Duty" award in the medals cupboard. Ta.

Some while ago I checked whether our insurance covered the cameras for water damage. I was told - if your feet were dry at the time, yes. If you were standing in water, no.
Just mentioning that... Wink

You never know the shape of the terrain under the water - and thus how high, and in precisely what direction the waterspout will go...

I hope you have a follow-up Silly Sunday image of you and the camera...

You have to ask yourself "was it worth it?". Judging by the image (not the versions), yes.

A great image and sequence, I would guess there are too many variables to have made an accurate calculation of the wave motion.
