So unlike lots of idiot photographers who stand too close to impressive waves like these I had done my calculations. Taking into consideration momentum, velocity, wind speed plus a safety factor of 1.5; I stood at the optimum safe distance !
However this beast pictured here, hit the beach and then, defying all know hydraulic data leap up to 7 or so metres above lower beach level and took me off my feet. Heroically, and as a true professional, I kept my finger on the trigger.............as can be seen in V2 and V3.
So, as the title suggests; I believe that there must some sort of "In the Line of Duty" award in the medals cupboard. Ta.
