Shelter

By ZenTony
This photo was taken in a local winter shelter for the homeless. It is sponsored by "Rainbow" in Folkestone. They pay for a facility during the harshest Winter months to offer a bed and breakfast service for around 15 people. This photo was taken in December 2019. Allison is one of the amazing people who work to support the "Clients" who for all sorts of reasons find themselves here. Martin was giving me one of his looks.

The photos that have been recently been posted have all been authorised by the people who feature in them. After tomorrow I am changing the theme away from homelessness.

The sad thing is that Folkestone has seen an increase in the amount of homeless over the last few years. The good thing that groups like Rainbow and Touchlight work very hard to try to help...
Great image and I take my hat off to all the wonderful people like Allison.

I have over a long time felt that the problem of the homeless is one the politicians stick their heads in the sand over and just wish it would go away all by itself. In a supposed civilised country, this shouldn't be happening...
As Moira, tha award for the whole series.

An award for this series, such needed service and needs more govt backing, yes.

Great set of images Tony, highlighting a horrendous problem that so few (particularly in this government!) seem to care about.

Two very good portraits. Love that he can make the poor lady laugh in spite of her problems.
