The term "White Whale" is a local name given to this formation of calcium carbonate deposits from hot spring in Bagni San Filippo in Southern Tuscany. Probably the least known of the spring in the area they are really impressive with the water in some of the pools reaching 48 degrees C. Quite toasty actually.
Just for a brief moment there were just a couple of people in the frame rather than many. It gave the shot a rather more surreal feel to it.
Great shot Tony
At first I thought it was a couple of nutters in their swimming costumes surrounded by snow!
Clearly quite the opposite!
Award winning stuff
Colin :)

Impressive calcium deposits, puts the ones in Greece to shame.
Good angle too. The people in the frame give the whole image a sense of scale. Like the somewhat menacing mono too.

What a great image Tony. I like that the couple are on an incline mirroring the ridge line. Stunning rock formations you've captured there and striking conversion. Excellent shot.

I too thought it was snow and ice........ Then read your caption!
What an amazing place! And a beautiful mono image and the couple add the necessary scale.
