Loss of detail in jpg images is more obvious in larger plain areas, rather than high detail like the eyes and hair; see the 5% image on the jaw line down towards the lips. Is it possible to show this part magnified? However it is interesting to see how good the 10% image as a small thumbnail for transmission over the internet- 7 Dec 2009 7:51AM

Much as i agree with this project, and very impressed with their exhibition in Manchester this year, their terms "for any purpose whatsoever" I feel is going too far. Suggest they restrict it to Bodyworlds and its exhibitions. See conditions shown below "By submitting any photos, entrants acknowledge.... and agree to assign their intellectual property rights to Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS (Organizer) and permit Organizer to use their entry in any media for any purpose whatsoever"- 25 Sep 2008 6:00PM

The shot is close to as originally taken, but I have a habit of separating a subject from its background onto a separate layer so that I can modify lighting/contrast etc. I obviously need to feather by a couple of pixels. In a recent competition, the judge remarked the underside was too light, so I added an adjustment layer and darkened the lower half, which is the submission I have offered. (Season for cherries now over).
I like the removal of the front vignette by Chase; I am torn between removing the light spots or not. I can see the difference in contrast by Banehawi which I like
And from Pamelajean, thanks for recomposing; it really makes a difference and will think more about in future; not sure about the frame colour, but will try others than red. Thanks to you all
