A good shot Zonda - lovely light to make the most of this bird's fabulous plumage. I'm not surprised that you had to use such a long lens as normally you wouldnt get very close to them. You might be able to get slightly more out of the plumage - see mod. I used a curves adjustment to lighten teh whole image and then used a layer mask to apply to the back and legs. I then lowered the opacity of the brush to do the breast, carefully avoiding areas which might burn out.

Lovely shot of a great bird, one of my favourites.

Best wishes

What is there to say. A fine shot of an attractive bird. Not a lot to do to improve really.

Nice shot, you are obviously used to correct exposures, handled the light very well here. So, as this is a critique forum and you are looking for constructive honest comments. Even though it is a nice shot, the lapwing looks a bit tired/sleepy. I would have just made a little click sound to get it to open its eyes and maybe give you a little head turn. For those who think this will scare the bird off, it wont. Wink
